We believe privacy is a right, not a favour. That's why MacDisplay was designed from the start to collect the bare minimum of data. This page summarises in simple terms how it works. For full details, refer to our Privacy Policy.
01 What we do NOT collect
During normal use of the MacDisplay application:
- we don't record what you display on your screens;
- we don't collect usage data, analytics or telemetry about how you use the app;
- we don't know when, where or how you use the app;
- we have no access to your files, your applications or your documents;
- we don't share data with third parties for advertising or profiling purposes.
On the website we don't use tracking or profiling cookies; any traffic-analysis tools are configured so as not to collect identifying personal data (for example through aggregated statistics).
The app operates exclusively on your local network: your screen signal travels only through the cable or the Wi-Fi of your home or office, without passing through external servers, the cloud or any internet service we own.
If you choose to connect an AI assistant to MacDisplay (from version 3.0.2), the connector works only on your Mac and sends nothing to us. What the assistant reads from MacDisplay becomes part of your conversation with its provider (for example Anthropic or OpenAI), under that provider's terms; with a local model, everything stays on your Mac. Details in the privacy policy, section 2.4.
02 What we collect (and why)
When you buy the licence, we receive from Stripe your email address and the order details (such as your name, country and billing address). We use the email address exclusively to:
- send you the licence key after purchase;
- provide you with technical support, if you ask;
- tell you about any critical or important app updates (for example security or compatibility updates).
We don't use your email address to send newsletters or promotional communications, unless you explicitly request it or give us a separate, specific consent.
03 Who handles payments
Licences are sold through Link, part of the Stripe group, acting as Merchant of Record: it collects the payment, sends you the receipt and invoice, and handles VAT. We, A.B. Intermedia Consulting Srl, develop MacDisplay and provide your licence and support. You enter your card details in Stripe's secure form and they never reach us: from Stripe we only receive the order details needed to send you the licence.
Besides Stripe and Link, we rely on a few technical providers, each for a specific function:
- Keygen (USA) — manages licences and the 3-Mac-per-licence limit: it processes the licence key, a hardware fingerprint of the Mac (an irreversible hash), the Mac's name and your email;
- Resend (USA) — sends the email with your licence key.
They all process data only on our behalf and for the purposes above.
04 Your rights
At any time you can:
- ask us to delete your email address from our systems, within the limits allowed by legal obligations, by writing to support@macdisplay.it;
- find your receipt and invoice in Link's email or at link.com, and write to us at support@macdisplay.it for any problem with your purchase;
- request a refund within 30 days of purchase, as set out in our Refund Policy.
